Just had to share even though it will make me look so so so stupid.

Anyways not a sweet fresh water story but a salty one.

Got dragged to the party boat last night.

Due to my work schedule had time only to make it to Sheepshead bay party boats due to them sailing out a bit later than NJ ones.

Target was pretty much anything we can land but mostly going to stripers.

There are many reason I do not do boats and being stuck for 5 hours in one was definitely one of them.

Landed a dogfish and small black seabass. Had to fight through schools of them in order to get bait down and into something bigger.

Some beers later I forgot that I was in a boat and got into a swing of things and thought I got everything under control.

And then it happen. How it happen I still do not know but it did. While taking a nice swing to get my line as far from boat as possible I saw it. My rod .....going overboard ....because someone forgot to loosen the reel to let the line go. And I just stood there looking at it like I don't even know what.

Amazingly my friend manage to hook it before it sank but just as we were about to bring it unboard ....it got loose and was gone forever.

So if anyone catches a striper with a rod ..... Enjoy it.

Never a dull moment is right .... we make every trip count.

Set up was around $150 so nothing to cry over.

So a $200 dollar night for me. Lol

At least is not a time when we went to Salmon River with a packed car only to realize when we got there that we left all our rods by the house.

4 St Croix were gone and since we already there had to get them for my friends. That quickly turned into a 2 grand weekend. :D

Just wait till Saturday buddy.

Kicking yourself or not, that is a good story. At the cost of your rod. Did anyone on the boat laugh when it happened? Sorry to say it, but, I would have. Maybe you should have your rod on a leash from now on. Tough luck on the rod man.

Of course everyone laughed ... stripers probably laughed harder than people on the boat.

I was laughing myself for being such a shmuck.

From now on I gonna be wearing a shirt that says:

"I can hold my liquor, but I can not hold my rod"

LoL Dale,

Still nothing beats managing to overturn a jon boat last summer on small private lake. First thing I managed to save was my trusty bottle of jack and forget about the rest of the stuff.

Then my friend starts swimming across the lake to the other shore trying to bring the overturned boat there. Mind you that's a good 500-600 yard swim while the closer shore was less than 50 away.

Overall managed to save everything except my phone, my camera and my glasses....

Ahhhh .....fun times
