Put in work, get some back. More to "contribute" to night fishing for pike. Besides putting in time, have some lures that will draw attention. Whether bright or dark, spinners, and noisy, slow moving stick or crank baits seem to do the trick for me. Believe it or not, the darker colors seem to work better for me at night. Cast EVERYWHERE!! Unless you know where they are and have some live bait. Little clips off of parts of the baitfish should slow them down enough for the pike to commit.
1st fish 36" from 6/8 @12:08am. 2nd fish a bit smaller from last week, & 3rd fish 38" from this morning at around 3:08am, just before the rain. Had a pike fling my forceps clear into the water while unhooking it. One thing this site has taught us is to BE PREPARED!! Good thing, cuz the other pair was right there on stand-by. So long as we take heed to the conservational fishing threads that have been posted here, especially during a contest, we can keep all the esox thriving in NJ. Without a doubt, these fish all lived to fight another day. Catch em' up!!

Save a fish, read these threads:

Essox,

Great catches. Love dem pikes at night.

That's how it needs to be done. As I thought if they are hungry they will go for it just depends on how you working them. Seems like I have a lot more to learn. LoL

Nah, you've got the right idea Andre. Just sounds like location would be something to tweak a lil bit. Just don't get thrown off by any sketchy sounding info, especially from people that want your $20. These girls will bite at night, just be there ringing that dinner bell.

LoL,

With all the info and suggestions and advice I am getting. Those $20 sound like a good investment for me ... :D

Best piking time for me is the last hour of light at the end of the day. I can see how they might bite at night where maybe they hone in on sound rather than depending on vision.

The info I provided was not sketchy. It was factual. Better numbers during day vs night. Add in location and tactics and you've got a sliding success scale dependent on the factors one selects to situate themselves. I'm also not in the contest.

Just pointing out what may have been obvious... Fishing the P at night vs spruce or Farrington will give up better odds on landing pike. Turn on the lights and the odds increase dramatically. Not sketchy... Just offering up some insight to a fellow angler.

Jigman you must remember Essox is the "self proclaimed" pike title holder..no advice should be listened to but his!! Maybe the champ can actually give Eddie some competition so the poor guy doesent have to win his own contest:D

I definitely hear you on that bro, hahaah! Whatever helps, every little detail can add up to one big catch. I also agree with your insight as well Jigman, good info no doubt. But offering more info with a lil motivation was my intent as well.
Time is not a commodity. Even when it's free, some people still can't afford it. Dre puts in TIME on the water and not the best "window" of time for this specific species, given location as Jigman said. It's not all luck that I'm consistent day and/or night with esox, hence my NJF name. Luck is always a factor when angling. But offering what works for me seems to be right.

Oh yea, the "belt", Lmao, Aahaahaa!
Still haven't gotten any pm's or anything regarding that "GET@ME" offer either. AAHAAAHAAAA!!!
