The launch at the intersection of River Rd and eagle rock Ave is completely blocked by big concrete blocks chained together. This is related i'm sure to tke reconstruction of the Eagle Rock Ave bridge. The bridge for practical puposes is no more.

The rush hour traffic caused by that bridge is ungodly

I heard it was private property and the owner shut it down

That's actually one of the poorer stretches of the river. Never done well immediately a mile above/below that bridge, Little too wide and muddy.

That is correct. The new owner of the property was advised by his lawyer to block it off due to liability concerns.

He is interested in selling the property & NJDEP’s Green Acres Program has contacted him to hopefully purchase it for public access.

NOOO! Better access = more fisherman!

That's been a popular access point for years. If that section is as lousy as Buzzbaiter says it is, it would be great to have it open again to draw people away from the good spots.

If you are canoe/kayak, there is launching in the area. PM me if interested. Will need social security number, first born daughter, and a cash deposit to spill the beans.

My two biggest Pike, a 39" and a 40", were both caught within a mile or two () of this area while float tripping. Can't keep me off the water .

Most of the river bank in Morris/Somerset/Union and Essex counties is public. You just have to get in there! Better access up river(Passaic River Park) but less Pike, more sunnies and fallfish

River is dropping nicely to bank fishing levels but....2-3" rain coming thursday night thru the weekend so today and tomorrow is your time to hit it. Bring the bug spray!

As mentioned in my previous post, NJDEP's Green Acres has contacted the owner about purchasing it.

Suggest that you attend one of your county's Sportmen's Federation meetings: http://www.njsfsc.org/ & raise your concerns there.

Perhaps, they can push along the purchase negotiations

Thanks for the info Mark, I will most definitely be looking into this.
