I plan on fishing some "Wild Trout Streams" that are very narrow in search of native brook trout. What rod length would you guys recommend using with a ultralite reel for these streams? Right now my shortest rod is 5'6", and I plan on using jigs and spinners.

I have a 4 1/2 ft and a 5 ft UL rod for small streams.

I'm at 5 1/2, good for all around.

longer rods, longer casts but more rod to get in the way. personally i go with similar to what the guys have posted already, 5' ish. but i do have a pretty light 7' for casting small lures in open space.

My favorite is a 5'6", but I have a 4'10" that I break out for trickles.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was asking because I was doing a google search and noticed that guy in the video below was using a really short rod to fish for brook trout. Going to hit up Ramsey Outdoor today and see what they have.

Not to take this too far off topic, but I seriously can't believe that guy was keeping trout that size.

Back to tackle, I thought the reels were way too big for the size rod they were using.

I hear ya Brian. I wouldn't keep fish that small and wonder if that rod he is using is a jigging ice fishing rod. Gonna stick with my 5'6" UL combo.
