Alright so I guess this is a 3 part report because I was all over the place yesterday. First stop was the Musky to make bait and check on our precious stocked Trout. The Trout are hitting hard and doing well with the little cold front that passed earlier this week. Fished the area from 1-4 catching 8 Bows from 7-13 inches, A bunch of Gills, Rock Bass and small river Smallies. Nice little session on the Musky. Water was a tad up and stained which makes for some great fishing. Trout are everywhere guys, go get em.
Second stop, the BIG DIZZLE! Had all my bait ready to go and didn't get anything on it. 2 run offs on live Gills and Rock Bass but nothing to show for it. However, I did manage some Walleye and a schoolie Striper to keep the spot 2 skunk away. The fish with stripes went about 20 inches or so and when I brought her to shore she was followed by a pod of Stripers that I couldn't get to commit. Nice fish and great fight on the ultra light Walleye rod. I think the rain helped push the fish up. This is a good thing!!! After not getting the Stripers to commit I did some old school jigging with a 1/8 ounce black jig head and a 3 inch Mister Twister tipped with half a nit crawler. Managed to land 3 Walleye, 1 @ 22 inches and 2 shorts around 13-14 inches. Nice little catch at spot 2. Got the call from Mikey Topaz around 8 pm to head up to the big LAKE. Off I went excited to get back on the night bite.
Spot 3! Met up with Mikey and brother Chris at around 915 pm to see what was lurking on a somewhat brisk night. When I left spot 2 it was 68 degrees, got to spot 3 it was down to 58 degrees. Elevation, elevation. And were off. Mikey got a 15 inch Wiper to start off the night and I thought we would be into them pretty good. Not so. After that fish it was the dead sea with only Rock Bass hitting our plugs. This was annoying as the fish were BUSTING fairly early. Chris was motivated and hooked a few fish but they kept pulling him into the cabbage and coming off. I really wish he would've landed his first Wiper but it wasn't meant to be. We'll get you on em next time dude. Rough night overall. Mikey added 2 very thick Walleye to the catch, possibly the thickest walleye I've ever seen. Walleye went 25 and 26 inches with that dinosaur lump on there heads. The estimated girth on the fish was around 15 inches. Figure it out and they were both easily over 7 lbs. Great fish my brother.
I managed to get a couple fish in the boat as well but no more Walleye for me. Guess I shot my Walleye load on the BIG DIZZLE. Its all GOOOOOOD!!! Took some time but I banged out 3 Wipers, 1 @ 23 inches and 2 @ 21 inches. They were very aggressive last night and running like mad when hooked. Every single 'BRID tried to hunker down in the weeds when hooked. I got mine in after some really good battles. The drag on my ultra lite was singing a happy song. Great day of fishing all over the place with some great buddies. Thanx for getting me back on em Mikey! Cant wait to do it again. Off the water by 3 am and home by 340 am. 12 hours of fishing in one day. Man, I live for this!!!
