Went to check on the Lamington river near Rattlesnake road today. I am following up on a letter I had written last year about all the golf balls in the river and the fact that a trout was caught a few years ago with what seemed to be a golf ball in it's stomach. Well I don't know how they did it but they managed to take out what was a seemingly endless amount of golf balls out of the river. 2 letters were written and one of the golf courses seemed very eager to clean up the mess. I was quite surprised when I did a clean up on the North branch the other day that there were NO golf balls where the Lamington meets the N Branch. I didn't see any golf balls today, last year I saw hundreds !
Now onto the Brown trout from today, yes I was surprised. Looked like a fresh hatchery fish, worn tail, nub fins. Looks like the stocked trout I see in New York. I know one of the golf courses had mentioned doing stream restoration work, was stocking trout part of the equation ? I guess things are looking up for the Lamington, water was 66* this morning.
Picked a tick off me crawling up my leg while typing this.

Nice fish Andy! From what I understand there is a private fishing club on the Black River just downstream of Hacklebarney St. Park. Maybe the club stocked them and they swam downstream?

Hey Andy,
I also caught a brownie in the Lamington earlier this year. On the small stockie side, but it had fully formed fins and clearly looked like a holdover. Away it swam, still in good shape.

Just counting or did we grab some & dispose of them?
I was fishing the 'Po on Saturday and saw some trash and bottles scattered. Didn't count how many...my girl and I simply just picked it all up. ;)

That same club stocked big rainbows, but not browns, or none until sometime this month, I don't know about the second stocking.

I've been going in the water all summer in sneakers and shorts ? Who wears waders when it's 80's out ?
