Great catch but he is having it mounted. Not sure I'd want to have that thing staring at me every day with the "you killed me" look in its eyes:eek:

replicas look a lot nicer but oh well. I'm still not sure what i'd do if i caught an absolute record fish. I'd like to say i'd release it like 99% of the big ones i catch but it might depend who's boat i'm fishing in at the time! I released an 8.5lbs fluke fishing in my friend's boat this weekend and i thought my buddy was going to eat me instead! hahaha

I would have no problem keeping a stocked freshwater striper.

Yeah.....she's going on my wall. That's an amazing landlocked fish. That fish was probably spent after the fight and would have went belly up......especially in high water temps. Even better was that it was caught on 20 lb line.

I bet there are a lot more stocked rainbows in that water now & a few well fed trailer parks in good OL'MIZZOU!:p

Hard to believe a striper can attain that size in a fresh water lake environment. I understand some of these lakes are comparable to mini oceans but what does something like this feed on to attain that size. In salt water, bass are feeding on 2-3 lb bunker and a variety of larger forage fish, how many 6 inch alewives does a fish this size have to consume to grow this large! Amazing fish and amazing catch for sure. Personally if the fish was in a condition to be released, I would have let her go but that's a decision each of us have to make if we're ever in that situation. There's no right or wrong answer to that one, personal choice. Great catch by the angler!
