My dad and I originally had plans to fish Lake Champlain this weekend, but our guide blew the motor on his truck and couldn't take us. So instead, we fished near my dad's place at some spots on the Raritan. We only fished for a couple of hours, and between the two of us we landed seven rainbows, with Dad catching the lion's share. I missed a huge fish on the South Branch, which I am 99% sure was a carp. The fish hooked up just fine and was on for a good minute, but the hook just pulled out.
Water was alarmingly low, we need rain bad; the summertime scum was already lining the banks. Saw several lamprey nests in Duke Island Park, all but one being vacant of the piscatorial parasites. After fishing it was beer, burgers, and BS-ing on the deck. Overall a great day.
