Early bird catches the worm ....
Ha ha but in our case just more fish for our enjoyment.
Went to Hopatcong today early ....very early since had to do some fishing before work.
Got to the lake at 4am and stayed until 7am
Weather was perfect but a bit on a chilly side in morning.
Couldn't get any fatheads the night before so fished only shinners.
Total: 8 crappies, 2 pickerel, 3 largemouth and 2 catfish.
All were released except for crappies.
Bite was as follows: Crappie - very good from 4:30 am till 5:30 am and then a bit slow.
Pickerel - picked up after 6:30am nothing before that.
Bass - right after sunrise picked up right away. All 3 were caught in 20 minutes with the largest pushing 5-6 lbs and about 20-22 inches.
Catfish - Slow throughout the whole time but was not really targeting the species.
Grill time
