First really nice, warm, calm wind day and fish responded. I hit one of my favorite, mile hike into the woods, stump infested, beaver ponds. Really is a beautiful spot that in about 3 weeks will be covered in pads & water shield so now is the time to go. Went topwater and picked off a dozen or so pickerel and one decent bass. Water was 52F so its getting up there. Lot of firsts today: first snakes seen; first butterflies; first dragonflies and first Osprey so things are finally looking and feeling like spring.

Still wondering if a float tube would be worth it, those spots look ideal for such fishing.

Someone could try or lug in a light canoe. Its 6 feet max I can cover about 50% just walking the shallows but its tricky with all the mud, submerged logs & stumps. I whacked my shin good on one and fell forward into the water (this is nothing new for me). Its the price I pay if I want to fish these places.

Nice having to exert effort to get to fishing.

i personally think the next state record bass will come from one of these hidden muck ponds....you have the right idea!
