WOW, after a long winter and long work hours for the past 3 months, I was finally ably to get the kayak in the river this afternoon for a couple of hours.

Made a few casts in the usual spots with nothing, but I was heading down river to a early season high water spot that has been good to me over the years.

Today, it was good again ! After 20 minutes, I landed two small pike, just over 20 inches, until I hooked and landed this solid fish. A quick paddle out of the current into some slack water and was able to snap a couple of pictures before getting drenched and letting her swim away.

Good luck to all the river pike guys this year and lets have a safe and productive season !!!!

Dan! It's about time! I've had mine out twice so far this year, no love yet. Hope to see you out there!

Had to count on you to get it done. Went out there once to find my favorite launch spot permanently blocked off and skunked at my second one. All I found were carp knocking leeches off themselves that wouldn't eat my corn Haha.

Sweet fish! Was thinking about that river. They weren't chewing at Spruce the other day but they had some massive fish in the DEP nets!

I'm gonna guess an accordian type arm or similar attached to the yak with a camera mounted on the end....Pretty engenius if ya ask me.....

Dan posted a picture of his home made swing arm camera holder awhile back.
Now they call it a selfie stick!

Yes, you are correct....it's a swing out arm attached to the front of the kayak. I love the pictures with the fish going crazy with me trying to control it for a picture. Some of the best pictures come from not knowing when the self timer goes off, like in the first picture above.

I mostly fish alone and had to come up with something to get pictures beside a half of a fish across my lap.

River is approaching early July levels which is unusual for this time of year. I may try to bank beat Monday in the "swamp" sections after work and see if I can scare one up.
