WOW, WOW, WOW!!! So I hit river today in search of well, anything that wanted to bite. Started off throwing Swim Shads and on the first cast hooked into a good fish that unfortunately came unbuttoned. Oh well, keep on chuckin! So about 2 hours pass and I'm still casting a variety of plugs mostly big stuff. At this time I have on one of my favorites, Yellow, black school bus BOMBER. It gets railed and I'm fired up to see whats on the end of my line. It's comes in slow at first but as I get the fish closer it starts jumping out of the TIDAL water. I see you Mr. Fish, what the hell are you doing here Mr. BROWN TROUT??? I was really fired up once I landed this 23 inch beautiful BROWN. I was yelling like a little kid in a toy store. What an interesting day! HOLY S#*T!!! Here's a few pics of possibly the last breeder BROWN in NJ, LOL!!!

GOOD FRIDAY!!!
TIGHT LINEZ!!!

Nice. Looks like a small stockie that grew up about 10" in the salt. Most of the fins grew back but the tail is still blunted.

From the looks of the tail, I don't know when it was stocked. The fins seem to indicate no scrapes or damage from raceway burns. it's not as silvery as a searun trout so its origin is quite a mystery. If you caught it downstream from where the state stocked the diseased brown trout in Union County last year, I'd say that they should stock more of them. Unfortunately, they don't grow that fast. If it was caught in the Raritan, I'd believe it because so many streams and lakes empty into it. The Swimming River stocking experiment has been a bust but one could have made it. Right now, we'll leave it as a mystery. Where ever you caught it. it's quite a feat. If it were tagged, the state would have some data to maybe start a new fishery or at least another place to put some trout. If you don't tell anyone, you might want to share the information with the biologists at Pequest. I'm sure they would love to hear about it.

Haha! Nice Catch!

You should superimpose those pics in interesting places like 6 flags, in front of the famous landmarks, or with Native Americans chasing you! :p

If it was caught where the diseased trout were released a place I know Eddie knows from his youth it would be a very exciting thing and hopefully the state would do what they did again
Odds are its a Raritan fish
