With opening day approaching what is your go to bait or lure when targeting stocked rainbows ? Looking forward to a great season.

In the lakes, Velveeta Cheese. Streams, anything with lots of color, spinners work great.

Mikes pink shrimp salmon eggs are deadly, when the fish turn off to bait because of pressure I switch to a gold ribbed hares ear

In the lakes, Velveeta Cheese.

Alright, I have to give this a shot Andy. Mainly because I want to see the look on my friends faces when I pull a brick of velvetta out the box. If it doesn't catch fish at least I'll have a snack:D

It really does work, and well.
Leaves a scent smear they come looking for

Oh yea, I gotta try this now as well. For lures, phoebes and Panther martins

White 1/8 oz. Roostertails with silver blades caught them the best for me back when they were last stocked in our area three years ago. Joe's Spinner Fly's also worked pretty good. Anything flashy should do the job.

I hate to say it, but Powerbait is extremely effective for stocked rainbows, as are nightcrawlers and other worms. Flashy spinners work well, especially when retrieved through swift current.

My family would go camping near a deep quarry in central Pa. when I was a kid. Excellent for fishing. One day I happened upon an old timer sitting on the bank just crushing the trout, I asked him what he was using and he pointed to the block of Velveeta cheese. Remember, Velveeta is not cheese, it's a cheese food . So someone took this idea and changed the color and texture and Power Bait was born. Good luck getting Velveeta to stay on the hook in the streams, but in the lakes where I can deep drop it, is deadly. :)

Filet mignon, and ritz crackers for the cheese, the trout hate it but it goes great with a glass of wine

Would you recommend a single or treble hook with the Velvetta?

Maybe as a side comment for trout anglers. I found online a way to shine up your spoons and spinners. Use ketchup! It must be the acid, but it sure makes my spinners and spoons look like new for what it is worth.
