so i'm realizing it's pretty confusing to figure out where you can and can't fish right now with the lakes still locked up enough to prevent boats. usually the trout stocking closures don't coincide perfectly with the end of season crap ice coverage.

so someone correct me if i'm wrong...areas designated as wild trout streams are open to catch and release fishing at this time until april 4?

and certain areas that are not directly stocked are open but figuring out those points is giving me a headache...such as rarit river after a certain point (206 bridge i think near manville) what about the mills that flows into it around that area can i venture up that to a certain point? it's pretty confusing, like reading the directions to a ridiculous maze haha

is the ice gone from the Del river? maybe i'll just stick my boat into a nice calm section of that bad boy.

Gorge, Musky TCA, Pequest TCA, Raritan below rt 206, Big D all open for business. You could probably launch at RV if you wanted to get the boat wet.

I wouldn't take the boat to the D unless you know where the giant underwater boulders are buddy!

It's a flat bottomed Jon boat, I just bounce off those suckers! Haha. I once drifted it for miles in that thing. Didn't catch crap but navigated it no problem. I wouldn't be going into any strong current areas, just plop it into a pool and poke around with the trolling motor.

Is rvr open enough to fish or are you just trying to get me to give my boat a bath?

If all else fails, I'll just wade fish the Pizza Hut pond.

I doubt that it Is open yet, they had a rescue truck on the ice about a week ago.

Eh I wouldn't be surprised, once it opens a little I think the wind just annihilates the ice there. We'll see.

All of the 2015 trout regs. are on pages 20 – 22 of the F&W Digest:

http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/pdf/2015/digfsh16-23.pdf

Please, read through them.

Apparently, the angler fishing the S. Branch Raritan yesterday, @ the access upstream of the Rt. 31 bridge didn’t. Nor, did he read the 2015 trout stocked waters sign on a tree where he parked his truck.

I stopped & clued him in.

RVR is locked in ice this morning. When it opens up, you can fish it,…….see top of page 22.
