Welcome to the site Jim.

Gas augers are allowed as far as I remember. Depth will be anywhere from 10 to 50 feet depending on how ice is and how far we will venture out. Based on location we are going I guess primary target will be pike as far as fish goes and just some good ol company with the lunatics here.

Thanks for the response, where will you guys be meeting and parking? Also, most of the lakes I fish don't have pike although they are loaded with pickerel. I am not a fan of steel leaders as I believe it lessens the amount of hits you get. I fish heavy fluro leader usually 20# or more and really don't have break offs with pickerel. Do you fish wire or mono for pike?

i think the experienced guys here use 80 flouro. I've seen that cut clean in half instantly by what i can only assume was a huge musky. I agree with you on the steel leader though, so i guess it's a give and take. you either chance not getting a bite or you chance losing a huge fish... i guess pick your poison.

I'm not as experienced with the toothy critters through the ice but i'm experimenting with the really thin light knotable wire leader (knot2kinky) I have 25lbs and it's thin like maybe the diameter of like 10lbs mono roughly. I know flouro is supposedly invisible but when it's that thick 80-100lbs i think the fish knows it's there if you ask me. idk, i have to actually hook a big pike or musky through the ice before i have any real opinions haha. I was using 20lbs flouro and i didn't catch anything over 22 inches. the 20lbs flouro p-line has always withstood toothy fish up to about the 24" size range though.

The water level is way down, so that map won't be too accurate any time soon. Plenty of parking at the launch ramp, bathroom and not a long haul out onto the ice. May try and make it myself.

Subtract 20' from the numbers provided on that map and that'll give you a decent ball park depth...

Fished the Spruce today from 11-5! One flag for the day. One Pike @ 24 inches. Beautiful day out there and the ice is thicker than my ice scoop. We got some serious ice at SRR! You might wana break out the gas augers for this party. No other anglers spotted on today's trip. A Pike is a Pike and I didn't get SKUNKED so I'll take it.

Good time today, guys! Decent turn out for sure, winged or not! Lots of grabs and drops with the tip ups today. Chicken finger perch were all I could muster on the jig. Thanx to everyone who made it out on the ice. Another MEET-N-GREET in da books. Great to see everyone as always. Good food, great laughs and a slow day for most of us. Ahhhhhhhhhh, the beers and food help to pass the time when your waiting for those flags to fly. Good times had by all. Kelly got her first Pike ever around 18-20 inches. Congrats Kelly! Mike had his tip up in a honey hole and got more action than anyone with a beautiful Brown around 4-5 lbs, nice and silver. He also got a nice little LM. Jeremy was king of the jig today whacking some sub standard Perch, 5 inchers, LOL! Had 2 flags myself but missed the first and on 2nd iced a nice 5 lb LM. Great day out there for sure. In total there was about 20 NJFers on the ice on this glorious Saturday. Thanx for the food Dale and Jeremy! See you MANIACS again real soon.

Once again Great Time!!! What can I say these are always a fun time with the NJF crew!!!! Ice fishing is the one time you can have 15-20 people all together at one time and a even a swan every now and then!!!! Was really good to meet some of the newer guys and Mike's Brown was INSANE!!! Never expected that in a million years!!! Not to take away from Eddie's or Dave's Big Bass or Kelly's first Northern!!!
We are like a family, I don't know any other site with the Family like atmosphere that we have!!!! We fish together and learn from each other as well as an occasional disagreement now and then but we all get over it and move on together as one!

I also want to personally thank everyone there yesterday who welcomed my daughter into the NJF family! You all made her feel like she belonged and that she is now a part of our big loud crazy NJF family!!!! The smile on her face when the roar from the crowd for her first pike was Priceless!!! Thanks again!!!!

Hey guys, I really enjoyed "briefly" meeting you all on Sat. I wish I had more time to spend to get to know you all better, but I had that situation with my brother. He's OK, but still in the hospital today/Mon.

Actually the swan was hanging out by us pretty much all day. I have some pictures with him trying to jig for fish. Apparently he liked the bark on the jig rod.

By the looks of it I think it was sick and confused. Felt sorry for it so we fed with bread while he was around.

2 beautiful Browns on the FlatcreekFairy last year. 1st went 22.5in.-3.8lb, 2nd was almost the equal@ 22in.- 3.5lb. Both trips also brought stripes up to 5lb.
Beautiful chrome colored trout, and a mixed fish dinner.

WHO SAYS, the trout are gone?? I remember, not too long ago, when S.R. was an amazing trout fishery. Apparently they've found a way to survive.
