Was able to get out for a few hours with my daughter Kelly and Matt. She has been eagerly awaiting to get out and do some ice fishing and we finally got to do it today. Her first flag was not to hard to land since the line was wrapped around the spool wrong and the line got tight and it basically hooked itself three feet from the hole!!! LOL Second flag a miss! Having never iced fished before she was a little unfamiliar with landing fish on a tip up but by the third flag with a little coaching she knew just what to do and nailed her second pickerel of the day!!!
Now it's Official, Kelly is a Ice Maniac too just like her dad!!! Great day Babe!!!!!

No fish for me since I was the chef today instead making Pork Roll sandwiches and Cheddar Brats!!!!!!

Here's a Pic of her first official Ice Dart!!!!!

I wish someone took me fishing when I was younger! Very lucky, bravo to papa getanet! I also wish someone was grilling me sandwiches while I was catching nothing today! Haha

Greatest thing is getting kids hooked on fishing. I love taking my nephew on the boat and when he catches a sunny he has the biggest smile ever, I can't wait to see his face when he catches a big fish! Great job on the fishing dale!

My dad got me out on the lake (summer) when I was 8 and we caught around 35 bluegills and been fishing ever since and now I'm (OMG) 64, and still love it. My daughter goes trout fishing with me and it's always a thrill even if we don't catch. :D

Nice that your daughter got into fishing. I had my step-daughter fishing when she was five and by the time she was seven she could cast better than many adults. We also took her hiking, backpacking and wilderness canoeing. By the time she was ten she had bagged several Catskill peaks and spent 5 days paddling the Allagash and skied some of the most hairy terrain in Utah. When she reached her mid teens she sort of rejected all of that because of the usual teen "I hate what my parents do" thing.

I always hoped she would find her way back to the outdoor life, but now she is 25 and has a boyfriend whose idea of getting outdoors is going to the mailbox. I hope the seed we planted may take root again some day, but I envy one of my friends whose daughters are still eager to go fishing with him now that they are in their twenties.

Congratulations to your daughter! That's a nice pickerel. For years, my son thought ice fishing was the greatest thing, since I would come and tell he & my wife about the outings, yet she wouldn't allow him on the ice, not until he was 8, and then a whole new world opened out for him. He's 16 now and we hope to go yet this season. Ice fishing is unique. The quality of serenity is exquisitely unlike doing anything else.

It's kinda funny because I have three kids a son and twin girls! They all used to like fishing as little kids and my other daughter was really into it the most out of all three. Then they grew up and my son fished with me quite a bit for a while but never has any time anymore since he's a firefighter, a Head Wrestling Coach for Spotswood Middle School, Works at Friday's AND has a girlfriend!!! LMAO That Kid doesn't even have time to take a leak!!!! Kelly became more interested and now next to Jeremy I fish with Her the Most!!! She always wants to go and fish for different species and different places Day or night Hot or cold it don't matter! SHE"S UP FOR IT!!!!! Daddy's Girl for sure!!!!!!!:D
