hit swarts, 4-5" ice were we fished open water across the lake other side. Walleye was the target.m Caught a small crappie on my first jig drop...then nothing else all day long...wow haha. I guess first cast curse happens with ice jigging too.

Nothing on 4 tip ups all day either. What the hell do I have to do to pull a walleye through the ice!?

Going back to my comfort zone tomorrow and targeting crappie and perch elsewhere.

You went to the wrong lake for Walleye through the ice. That is the problem, trust me. Hopatcong, Greenwood, Monksville and the D are your best bet for eyes through the ice. Ahhhhhhhhh, it happens! You'll get em next time.

Im yet to pull one after many attempts. I catch hundreds a year on my other waters and do well at swarts year round but thru the ice is tough. Most guys get them at nite thru the ice and thats tuff for most of us

Well I figured we get them pretty good in the pre ice cold water so we'd hit the same areas. I've tried on hopatcong, that lake gives me no ice fishing love either. Monksville is probably where I'd try next since I've had good days there open water in fall. I've never fished greenwood, maybe I'll try it one of these days.

fished Hopatcong Saturday and it was slow.had 6-8 inch in the cove I was fishing.fish a private lake sunday and it was game on with crappie, perch,lm bass & pickerel.hopatcong is making ice every night and we should be able to get to some of the good eye spots soon.

none of my good fall eye spots on hopatcong ever produced for me through the ice that is the weird discouraging part for me...i was always under the impression that if a walleye is there late fall, that's where they'll like to be under the ice.

anyway hope the rain doesn't mess the ice forming up too much today.

i hit a private lake that i know like the back of my hand sunday too and it was still slow, 1 crappie, no perch of any size just small ones. then two pickerel (one pretty big) on tip ups. some nice bluegill and then one bass, but thankfully it was a nice one so it made the slow fishing all weekend kind of worth it haha.
