Me and a few other members will be out all weekend. It's about time for a nice FISH FRY. Nothing better than some Perch and Crappie after a long day on the ice.:D

i'll be out on either lh coves only (beware the ice on the main lake is new, just formed last night, i'd stick to the coves only) or hopefully swarts (although i can't get firm comfirmation that it is closed up with safe ice although i'm pretty sure it is)
can anyone on here confirm swarts has safe ice by tonight? planning on going there saturday.
if not i'll be on lh coves or a small lake somewhere in the area. i have to put my new toys to work!

The Boat House Restaurant might be able to give you information regarding ice conditions on Swartzwood lake??

Or try calling the park - (973) 383-5230 - there may be a ranger in the office during normal hours.

I am NOT into ice fishing at all and could only imagine myself doing it with a jigging rod....What does a quality combo go for these days???May try to pick one up at the show tomorrow.....
Good luck and safe travels to ALL who venture out.....And pls be safe....If
you feel sketchy about the conditions, DONT DO IT....None of us want to here of any incidence or accidents

If you have an ultra light setup for stream trout just take that reel off and stick it on a $10 ice rod good to go

You don't need anything fancy. You can get a good ice rod for $25 bucks (I like the Berkley Lightning) and as someone else here said, borrow a reel from your light weight summer gear or if you don't want to do that, buy a small Shimano Sienna and you have a nice ice jigging outfit for $50.
Anyway, I hope to be out Sunday for a few hours.
