Our books for the 2015 season are officially open. We tweaked the website a bit and streamlined the "trips" section a tad, hopefully making it a little easier to read and understand.

We have several projects for the winter and we should be ready to roll once the weather breaks. The plan is to have the boat in the water by around April 15. A quick synopsis:

April/May: If the bass are here, we will target them -- our focus though in April and early May will be cod & pollock on the mid-range wrecks out east of the hole, and then we will shift to bass and seabass as May progresses. We will also be doing a few shark trips :)

Summer: our focus will be fluke and we will also be doing once (or twice!) per week trips to the mud hole for ling, flounder, cod and other deep water bottom dwellers. We will also be mixing up our summer schedule with Bluefin/mahi trips as well as trips targeting bonito and albacore.

With the bigger, more comfortable, and third issue of Reel Class, our horizons are expanding even more and we'd love to have the loyal membership of NJFishing.com onboard for another season (2015 will be #12 for us!).

So, if you are interested in booking a trip (the phone is ringing already!) give us a call (201)248-5281 and we can discuss and hopefully get you on the schedule.

...Leaving you with some great pics from 2014 :) Next update early February.

Brandon yes we are going to schedule them. Give me an idea of when you'll be in town and I'll work on getting it together for that timeframe.

Capt. Allen-Great pictures, I love the "mix"!
How big do those flounder get? Any over 5 pounds?
Can you "target" them or is it all by-catch?

Thank you!

Jason

Jason:

I've seen very few flounder in NJ over 5# - but yes we occasionally see one here and there on the deepwater wrecks. Most are 2-4#ers, with the majority being in the 2-3# range. We never see shorts out there, and most are well over the minimum.

Yes you can target them (we're catching most of them in 120'+) but with a bag limit of 2 and usually loads of ling and some cod and other stuff around its not really logical. But, yes you can target them and we break out the old rigs w/ yellow beads when we're on a piece we know that have them thick :)

Would you say that July/August/September are best? I guess if you want to "mix it up", September holds the greatest variety including the tunoids and mahi and flounders (OH MY!)......Jason

I'd say June thru mid-August is best for this kind of fishery. The latest I've caught flounder "offshore" was in early November seabass fishing in like 130'.

...just bumping this back up - lots of the opens are filling up for the summer - I will updated AVAILABILITY on all of them today (right now they aren't showing availability) so those of you that are interested can see what we have.

Once seabass opens, I'm sure we'll have some weekends 'open' for them also...

Getting lots of calls for charters - keep them coming! :D
