Does anyone have a recommendation in windlass manufacturers??
I purchased a 30ft boat that had a 2001 Lewmar H700 and it seemed to have all the same problems that I'm reading about in current reviews (cheap internal parts, not properly sealed, corrosion and rust, etc.).

Good Windlass based here in NJ are the best. Free fall and unlike others, you don't have to cleat the line off while at anchor or when the anchor is stowed in the pulpit so you really never have to got up on the bow.
We have one on our boat and I know several others that do as well. All have been reliable and trouble free.

They also have their own installation people that work for the company that installs them locally. You will not be disappointed in the quality of the install or windlass. Use their line and chain and you'll have no issues.

I second that for Good. Mine was excellent.
I would recommend cleatting off though. Takes the strain off the wildcat. Although many dont do that and use soley the windlass while under way and anchored.

This is one of the few that is specifically designed so you don't have to go to the bow each time you drop and or stowe the anchor. Big plus in my book and if you go to their site they talk about it specifically.

I second this....
Their customer service is the best as well. I had an issue with the motor a couple of months after I installed it and was leaving for a two week vacation on the boat two days later. They sent me out a motor and told me not to worry about sending the other one back until I got home from vacation.
They should change their name to GREAT!!!!!

From what I've read here and in other places they are the best on the market only a bit pricey. Now they are having a boat show special and there top of the line models are close to $300.00 off. I think I may pull the trigger and get one...Charlie
