Hi everyone I don't get out to fish that much anymore and would like to take my two boys fishing from land somewhere since they are still a little too young for one of the overnight sea bass trips I used to take. Is there any thing in the inlets that I can fish for this time of the year. I used to go point pleasant and Belmar but not sure what to fish for this time of the year. Any ideas or places where I can go would be great.
Thank you and Merry Christmas

Any of the inlet rock walls and jetties could be holding blackfish. Tough for kids though since its very snaggy and if your are not careful, you will loose a lot of rigs.
You might also try fishing for Herring in the same areas using a Sabiki rig.

Watch out on the SR jetties. Big gaps in rocks for kids to fall in. Try the wall at MI. They should be able to tell you if anything's biting at the tackle shop PP side.

why not take them on a day time blackfishing party boat trip?

Tuff time of year. Why discourage them now in the cold during a slow time of land based fishing.
Id wait till spring/summer when the inlets are holding blues, fluke, ect. Or take em to a pond and have a field day on panfish.
Kids get board easily and not catching will give them a negative aspect on this sport.
If the need is now a half day party boat where at least they will bring you to fish is a better option. Ling or sea bass are easier to catch than black fish for beginners.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS and good luch with whatever you decide.

Lots of sundials and bergals around in mi if u were dead set on going maybe a dogfish or some skates clam would best betwho knows this upcoming weekend with mildls temps might warm the mud up enough for a flounder. But it will be tough to catch anything good
I would do a head boat for ling or hit a local pond pm me if you need some freshwater direction in your area

You could just go to shark river and fish for flounder. I caught about 20 in short time about a week ago. It's also easy for the kids... cast out and wait for a bite.
