does any know if the boat ramp has been re-opened?..it's the one right off 80 below the I-80 bridge near the rest area. I think it was wiped out by Hurricane Floyd in 1999.

It's been closed forever. It's no longer a public access ramp. It's horrible cus that's a great area for certain species this time of year. You can launch at Worthington and Poxono. Just watch out for snow, they don't maintain, plow Old Mine rd when the snows really bad!

As I understand it, you can still car-top launch there, but can't launch anything with a trailer.
I tried to launch from that spot this past summer, but the state put up a sign saying you had to have a special parking permit to to use the parking lot by the boat ramp. All the public parking spaces were taken and the park police were preventing people from parking in the street or on the lawn to prevent the chaos and drownings they had at that spot in previous summers.
So I parked directly beneath the I-80 bridge and threw my kayak down the steep bank and into the water. Scared the shit out of some old bucket sitters fishing under the bridge. :D
Seemed like a good idea at the time. The problem was loading the kayak back onto the car. I had to climb up that steep bank that was completely covered with poison ivy while dragging the kayak behind me. :(
They maintain Old Mine road in the winter, but in a very minimal kind of way.
