So,

What a beautiful day yesterday. Perfect day to catch some fish and well it needed to happen one of those days so why not yesterday. A perfect day to get skunked completely.

Bait used: Shinners, powerbait and wax worms

Fished Round Valley from 7am till 11am.

Was a nice small circus up on the reservoir. About 30 people have occupied both sides of the boat ramp and I have not seen a single person coming out with fish. Slip bobbers and slip sinker rigs used and nothing to show for it. At 11 decided to change location to Spruce Run

Fished Spruce Run from 11:30 am till 3pm
Same story. Weather was cooperating and surface was nice and flat without a single bite all day long. A lot of people bird watching not a lot of people fishing. Once again nothing to show for it. Time to move again.

Fished Farrington Lake from 4pm till 6pm
Nice to see water rising back to the start of the summer levels. Once again not a single bite was to be bought by me. By 6pm my friend who was with me managed to catch the one and only lonely perch who was just as confused as we were.

Overall was up from 4am till 7pm with nothing to show for it all day. But the weather was nice so to tell the truth day went just as planned even if I didn't get any fish at all.

Yours Truly,

Andre

had a steady dropping pressure all day (you could feel it in the air getting colder and colder steady) i'm under the impression that fish really get uncomfortable during pressure change like that. we were on swartswood and didn't get skunked but could really only get pickerel and very small panfish to totally commit.

Yeah that was my thinking exactly ... that was the only conclusion that I was coming with. I mean I don't mind getting skunked even though it is a first for me but seeing all the people out and not a single one getting bites ... well that was news ....

I am sure I would of got more if I stayed at Farrington since the sweet spot started to produce right when I expected it too but being out all day and 2 bottles of JD later needed to start heading home ... lol

Struck out at RV on the rocks and then next to boat ramp yesterday morning as well - 6.30/10 or so, could've used your trusty flask to help pass the time. Saw 2 fish landed both before 7am - one was a RVTA Trophy tag that the guy tossed back before taking the tag....

The "frolicking" bows up in the shallows were at least entertaining as was the beautiful weather.

sounds like a tough day but there are def a lot worse way to spend a day besides fishing and drinking even if you got skunked.. i have been having most of my luck early mornings till 9 or 10 if its a good day

Nice job sticking with it. Everyone has days like that, that's fishing.

Maybe the fish moved deeper, out of your range from shore? I pulled a Smallie out or 40ft. yesterday. Everything we marked on the sonar was on the bottom. Hope that helps

I probably seen you. There were two guys on the rocks one closer to the boat ramp and other one further out. We were on the bend in the middle. Wanted to start fishing earlier but Behr didn't open till 7am so had to wait for our shinners.

Got skunked the last 5 times that I’ve waded RVR’s eastern shore. I recall another winter when the res. was lowered, that I didn’t do as well.

LoL,

Actually that was my first time getting skunked there .... usually when I don't catch anything I just move to the beach area for some bass and pickerel action but even that was dead. Couldn't get to the rangers cove since park was closed in morning and I was not in the mood of trekking. Even false cove produces some action for me but that was not a day for it. All good though it was a beautiful day ....

Is Rangers Cove open at night? I bet you could have snagged a catfish if you fished some night hours.

That was me, closest to the docks on the rocks - getting skunked. Last 2 outings have been terrible, might be time to clean the reels up and store em away until ice out.....

Lets go rangers keeps posting pics of 20+" bows however....

I know he does .... still trying to figure out his hiding spot.

I am of to Olcott this weekend for more salmon fun ....with occasional brown in a mix.
