wow that's a nice pike! wow! I've been looking for something like that for a few years now. never really had much success ice fishing though. I mean i can hit up some decent bass and pickerel on the private lake. and jig up some perch and crappie, but that's about it.

I'm not totally done open water fishing yet but by the beginning of december i'll be ready to ice fish! I'm getting an electric auger this year, i'm done hand drilling the holes!

Some nice fish were iced at the meet and greets last year but it is more about getting together and eatin and drinkin and talkin smack with the boyz!
Getting to meet some new people and maybe just maybe learning a thing or two.
One thing I learned last year first hand is NEVER walk away from your tip ups!

I like the iceshanty tourney rules. We should make a tourney card and you should have to post a pic of the fish next to a tape measure with the card and another with the angler holding the fish, but no background required. No pinching the tail or using flexible tape measures that people use for their waist.

I think background is needed as proof of being caught in nj. As far as another angler needed that will create problems with people who fish alone (quick trips before after work). I'm interested either way.

A few thoughts:
With money on the line, you gotta have some basic clear rules. This years pike-o-thon and small mouth contests are solid models for the Ice O Thon.

Anyone buying in would just have to guarantee any entry in the contest will be caught in NJ Public Waters. Greenwood and the Big D included. Private lakes wouldn't be fair.

We gotta prevent spot burning. If i see a big walleye with a background I can ID, I'm mugging that hole tomorrow! Along with 20 other dudes :D A good pic with a measurement and with what ever other object you guys come up with should be perfect.

The entry should have to come out of a hole. Not a body of water with ice on it.

First fish submitted in a tie wins the tie.

No one is a cheater around here. But lets hope we find one out so we can all have fun lambasting them publicly here and on every other social media outlet. :p
