Just a short trip today to throw some spinners on the river near the Route 17 bridge.
Caught about 5 smallmouths, a few baby largemouths, one sunfish, and plenty of perch. 0 trout today.

The smallmouths are small but fight like mad; I used 4 pound line but 2 pound line would be even more exciting.

Kinda surprised you didn't get any of those fall stockies.

Yea a shame i didnt come across any of those trout recently. I did catch 3 of them when they first stocked it this fall though. nothing big unfortunately.

Still looking for them in there; i have a feeling a lot of them were already caught and taken because i constantly see fishermen on the river every single day. some take out bags of perch with them =/

Iv'e put a few hours looking for those lil' stockies also with nothing. Those river rat smallies fill the void though. I've also been getting nice bait sized fallfish hitting small spinners.

Nice, I also caught a couple of those chubs in the river this season. I thought about using them for pike or muskie bait but let them go.

I think most of the stocking gets done down river near the reservation park area.
Was there even a fall stocking in the Po this fall?
Always a close fun river to fish but my favorite was the Pequanock river.
Any word of the Pequanock making its way back on the stocking list?

Yes ramapo was definitely stocked this fall. I've seen tons of trout anglers targeting them almost every day since the stocking, and i have caught 2 undersized rainbows and one keeper at 9" about 2- 3 weeks ago.

Some of the stocking was done over by the route 17 bridge. By no means all though.

My guess is they stocked with mostly undersized fish and maybe a few bigger ones.

Went back to the Ramapo tonight for some catfish. didn't catch any catfish but did get two larger creek chubs/fallfish. One hit a spinner and the other went for a chicken liver..
Also caught some perch and smallmouth and largemouth before the sun set.

Ok so after a few weeks of searching the river for the trout i finally found them today at the very end of my trip. limited out on the 4 fish i'm allowed to keep and went home. First time i caught them on the spinner. I had luck with worms and flies earlier in the fall season.

Caught my first Brown trout today. Not just one but two. bigger one was 13" and smaller was 12.5"
Also caught a perch.

Was out to the same spot two days ago and caught a bunch of perch, chubs, and one smallmouth but no trout. One trout got away (I probably caught him today though).

Went to the river today to one of the trout spots and caught a nice brown trout.
River is flowing faster and is higher after these rains so i wasn't able to fish as deep as usual.

Trout are still out there in that river. They seem to be the only thing biting in the cold weather.
