Don't know whats going on with the herring or when they will be back in the shops. But you can catch them on a Sabaki rig and it's fun and legal. Just locate the schools with a fish finder and put the rig down to them. It's not as easy as I make it sound but definitely doable and fun. Every time I catch one I go cha-ching. (that cash register sound.) ;)

Yea they were all out last weekend and this week so far.
I fished yesterday evening and the herring on the lake were going crazy.
We saw over 100 individual pods of them in the surface. res was glass.
There was some crazy bug hatch yesterday too and the water surface was absolutely covered with small bugs and the herring were chomping on them like crazy. pretty cool site.
awesome topwater action on the Bill dance heddon spooks.

Stopped by Dow's last night. She's got enough good sized Herring to cover herself. Said there are soo many small ones this year going to the traps, but the bigger ones won't mix in.
