Went to Ambrose 21 where we had them the weekend and nothing but shorts and lots of them. A couple spots where they were drop and reel.
Moved out the channel searching but no keepers and fewer shorts
Went to nude beach - sea robin and two shorts
Went inside tip - nothing
Went to Flynns and a couple spots that were drop and reel shorts
Had over 20 shorts in 3 hours - heavily favored spearing and pink.
One funny story. Decided to break out shedder crab scent when things slowed at the tide change and try it on a jig and a short nailed it as soon as it hit bottom. Brought it up and released a one eye fish and said Wow - I hope this really works. Sent the jig back down after another dip of stink and WHAM - instant hook up.
Brought up another short and noticed it was blind in TWO EYES!
That was it for the miracle bait - I guess I caught all the fish that had to smell for food. Also I am thinking that all this catch and release jigging is blinding lots of shorts since these bigger jig hooks strike home right at the eye socket.
