I got 2 other guys to switch lives around for tomorrow so I could go only to find out this evening that I wasn't going because someone called after we booked who had 6 compared to our 5 ( 4 of us + 1 other the captain had) so we got canceled and they go instead. and this had to happen after 5PM . Wouldn't I have been happy camper at 5AM as I arrived at the boat and was sent away.

Not so hard to understand Kmaty. Price quoted was $750, odd considering his site has it for $600 (6hrs) and $700 (8hrs). Told him we were only 4 working on a 5th and maybe a 6th. Negotiated a price of $125 + 20% tip which puts us over his stated $600 price. Sal called later saying he had a 5th for us, great, all set.

He called back at 545 saying a regular called and, sorry, we were out. Actually not even a sorry. Kept telling me we were going on a whim. Not that his regular who booked the night before was doing it on a whim. Meanwhile one of the guys who pm'ed off the original request by ChefSam told Sam he called sal and is now going.

So.....I can only conclude that a split charter for more money was put together very late knocking us out.

Oh well, you live and learn. Took a chance last month on an unknown boat (to us), the Fishstix and Kris killed for us, great experience. This one not so hot.

bottom line is a deal was made and broken by the captain when he came upon a better opportunity. when I called for specific dock location he said this really wasnt confirmed yet and he was still short his $150 "mates pay". But never said that he had booked another group. because at that time, (after 5:30 don't remember exactly) he still had us for Tuesday. live and learn

They should make a complaint department forum and leave it in there. Not in the most important forum on this site.

I am all for chefsamg19 speaking his mind, but we all know how these turn out when all the cooks come into the kitchen. I am all for popcorn and a show but not in this forum section. Should be moved out of this forum but played out.

What did you book? Was this a charter? Answer is no!!!You could not say your two other guys were definite.The way I count that makes three guys you and two others????????? Now there is a post on this board -looking for guys to fill a charter. Next thing is your guys only wanted to pay $125 each not $140. The math doesn't work. As far as changing peoples lives goes I waited all day for confirmation. Did not happen! You turned this into an open boat not me. As far as the web site goes it has not been updated in one year. All my post on the open boat forum have a price and say call for info.

Should I have gone to the boat at 430 am and hoped everyone showed up when you had a different number of people coming every time I got a call. A regular customer of mine called when I'' did not have a confirmation on your part'' and he paid full price for the ''charter''. How can you call a capt. up and say you have enough people to go and then advertise on this board because you are short was that my fault? So the truth comes out. The truth is it should not be on this board and that is what the pm is for.

Price: You agreed upon $125 + 20% tip. With 5, we thought it was in line with what your site stated. Not my fault you have different prices for different callers.

People: YOU called me at 445pm to say you had a 5th for us and we also still had inquiries for a 6th via the message board ad from the morning. Thought we were all set and told my people so. You repeatedly asked if our 4 were solid. I said yes. My buddy called for directions, you told him we had no confirm yet. Imagine my surprise as I just got offf the phone with you.

The Shaft: You called back at 545pm to say we were out. You wouldn't confirm because you were working on a better deal. No "sorry" or anything, just self justification.

The Gist: You blew hard all day about how YOU don't do open or splits but hey, now you did? Should have hung up the phone right there in the morning and that would have been that. Why don't you just admit that you went for the better deal? No, you needed to insult us by saying we were doing this on a "whim", like forking out $150 per for late July stripers is a frivolous thing we do every day. And now you further insult us by implying we probably wouldn't even have shown up. You may be good at what you do but this aspect of it needs some work.

You are the one who told me on our last conversation you could only get 3 people and one of them was off the internet and you weren't sure he would show and the second one you could not guarantee he would be there either. Next thing is you made it or tried to make it an open boat. I lost nothing and neither did you. So next time being you can't get enough people for a charter go on an open boat. And before posting on this site get your facts straight.

All the back and forth and bantering.. that's just drama and a sideshow.. which is fine.. shows character.

At the end of the day this was an opportunistic charter for both parties that got trumped by a regular customer.

Trip should go to the regular customer.. Just being objective..

Lesson - Communication could have been a little more tactful.. "like hey hate to do this to you.. but I just had one of reg's book me the whole day and really was looking to do this as a reactionary kind of thing. But the fish are still chewing and lets try to put someone more formal over the next few days"

At the end of the day, we're all looking for goods in exchange of services. With us all being on this site, we should have some level of respect in how we treat one another. No reason to chew one another out. Enough hate in this world already.

And oh yea, the bass have been chewing great for like two weeks now if you know where to pieces are.
