Folks,
Long time troller, first time poster.

I have been fishing ever since I can remember as a kid, but took a hiatus as I was working in Manhattan the last 7 years and just didn't have the time. I've recently re-caught the bug and gotten back into fishing and have been doing some lake fishing for bass.

I want to start to get more into some stream/river fishing and am looking into purchasing a pair of breathable-stockingfoot waders and wading boots. I'm looking for some brand recommendations and would like to get out without spending more than $300 for the waders and boots. I looked on Cabellas website and saw a combo of a breathable wader with boots for $215. The waders are the Premium Breathable Dry-Plus and they have seemingly good reviews on the site. Have anyone used these and can offer any feedback? (link below)

Lastly, I have a question about size. I'm 6'6" and 250lbs with a 48" chest. As I live in Jersey I would like to purchase a size that will allow me to layer underneath for those colder early/late season days. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding size and will an XL be too big or small. I usually wear XXL T-shirts if that is any help.

Got a pair of White River stocking foot and they are pretty good. You can stop in Efingers in Bound Brook and they have a pretty good selection. Funny thing about chest waders, just because they go up to your chest, rarely you are standing water over your waist. Not much fishing below 32* because the guides on your rod freeze up. I wear chest waders and rarely go over my knees standing in the water.

I believe ll bean offers a lifetime warranty on there waders. You might wanna investigate them as an option..

I'm not quite your height but I'm near your weight and chest size. I'd go with a 2XL especially if you plan on layering.

As far as brand I've always gone with LL Bean. Reasonable prices and you can't beat the warranty.

i personally have the cabbalas guide series wadders and love them. As far as fit your best bet is to try them on. There warranty is second to none had a buddy rip a pair on a guardrail and they swapped them out no questions asked.As far as boots i started out with the exact pair that you put up and bought korkers 6 months later.

For me, I'm not a huge stream/river guy but I bought a pair of waders with boots attached for like $65 bucks at sports authority 2 years ago. Similar to these

I've honestly never had a problem. I got a size bigger for the cold. I'm 5'10, but weigh about what you do and I got the XXL and when I've gone with an underlayer I've been warm and comfortable. Again, I don't use them too often so if your gonna do a lot of wading, I'd listen to some other guys but these have worked for me.

ORVIS!! Endura stocking foot..159$ Knees down its got five layers.. Super light weight great in summer, stay warm in winter.. Silver sonic convertible-top waders 279$ These are cool they go from chest to waist without taking off the suspenders.. I mean if ur serious and spending 300 y not drop the extra 100 for something you'll have for 5 years.. Enduras are great for the price (I got em')!! Id go with chest one wrong step you don't want to fill up with water when its cold!! Go with ORVIS for the price because that's what they specialize in fly fishin, flies/fly products, and WADERS.. No brainer.. Boots- don't cheap out on boots there more important then waders!! CHOTA STL plus wading boots..160$.. Felt sole w/ steel cleats.. Best part is there quick lace system that's like a bungee lace you pull tight.. push in the button and slide the lock down.. Durable Sob's.. It takes 20 sec vs 3 min putting your boots on and when its freezing out its so easy to take off.. Whatever waders you get check out these BOOTS!! For size.. get something loose enough for winter clothes the water compress any extra material its better to have some room.. but jus a few long johns and some sweats with the enduras your good to go..
