I was almost positive it was a fluke but it happens again. The only difference is this was uncooked and my buddy grabbed the wrong pole so that had 4lb test on it lol. Also caught a HUGE snapping turtle on a chicken liver. Unfortunately no pics of that. But I guess the pike are hungry. River level was about the same as earlier last week when I caught. No love last week after the rain.

It's amazing cause I've cast multiple lures hundreds of times into that same stretch and caught nothing. Sitting on my ass with a 6 pack and a hot dog, I've caught 2 of the biggest fish of my life. Fishing is great lol

I've been telling people for years to use cut bait for pike.

.
I'm fascinated by this. Maybe fishing with pieces of fat-ladden, over-processed meat products is an under utilized method for pike.
I can see you on an episode of 'Fishing with Roland Martin' with a package of hotdogs being like, "Well Roland, we rig the hotdogs with a double-hooked quick strike rig on a titanium wire leader and cast it out into high probability areas..."

It depends on the area. In the Newark area, you can use store-brand hotdogs, but where the Passaic approaches Summit and Millburn you have to switch to Kosher hotdogs.
