Went out today with a big crowd looking for a bunch of sea bass. Dock fluking stunk, 1 13"er and 15lb of seaweed. Fishing was very slow. We made 16 different drops and covered a lot of ground, inshore, offshore, off Sandy Hook, off Deal etc. Total catch was a very slow pick of ling with a scattering of flounder and sea bass and a good number of endangered congos.
With the crowd we had, we couldn't drift which has been the most productive method for sea bass. But Capt Dennis sure tried anchoring everywhere imaginable. Pool was a 5lb cod. I had 7 mixed sized ling and a sea raven, dinner and a fish sandwich for lunch. Dennis Stock had 6 ling. A few people had 8 or 9 mixed fish. Ten minutes of fluking back at the dock was fruitless. Hopefully it picks up a bit next week.
