Union County Pond Report

Lenape Pond = Filled with algae and carp. :( Someone with a bow head over there and clean them out please.
Echo Lake = Looks like pond scum being removed, LMB are biting, got decent fish on finesse and 3" Senkos
Mohawk Park = Clear with some small bass
Nomahegan Park = Murky, but bass are back, sunnies galore. Maybe some Surprise Lake fish are ending up there? Looks good with the new plantings along the shore. Also, attractive female joggers always a plus.

Pic shows Echo Lake trash. Someone purchased a rod/reel combo at Walmart and felt the need to toss the plastic into the lake.

Just curious, why take out the carp? they've been there since i was a kid, early 80's.....Had a neighbor that used to stock wallenpapack bass there but most are long gone....

Just too many of them. They degrade the water, making it murky, disrupt photosynthesis, and some believe, encourage algae growth, which then depletes oxygen levels when it dies.
Also , there are still some bass, saw a few this morning in the few semi-clear areas. It is a pretty pond.

Unfortunately there are many people who hate carp for no good reason. Carp are able to live in places with poor water quality and often get blamed when the fishing isn't good for other species, when in reality carp are just able to survive better. Luckily more people are starting to learn about and appreciate carp. Sadly there are still many carp haters in NJ and on this website, which is why I no longer post reports here.

Yeah, the summer *******s are out in force. You can expect a ton of trash at all the bodies of water. Funny, I've noticed a lot of it is Walmart bags and other crap purchased at Walmart. Something about those Walmart demographics...

Fish & Game electrofished the lake and moved some of the bass, but I don't think anything was done with any of the other fish.

It's a real mess. I saw a heron eating a small bass. Lots of fish gasping for air in the stagnant water. The saddest thing I saw was a Wood Duck hen who didn't want to leave her ducklings, so she was trapped with them in a small pool of weeds. I hope she is okay after it all drains completely.

dropped my yak in a local pond today 5 minutes from my house and had some good action on a white spinnerbait and a bigfoot scumfrog. the bass were hitting the spinnerbait aggressively, I missed more fish that I caught. carp everwhere, I gotta bring some corn or some worms or something and try to catch one, some of em are BIG and scare the crap out of you when you paddle over em and they spook. this bass was getting his feed on, I was tempted to pull the crawfish outta his belly, the antennae were still moving!

been getting SKUNKED on the regular at the usual spot down the street, really annoying. cant figure it out.
