Dad and I made the trip up to Cooperstown this weekend to fish Lake Otsego and check out the Hall of Fame. After checking the weather forecast for Saturday, we were not hopeful; sun and high winds were in the forecast. But when we met our guide at the ramp, the clouds had not yet broken, and that's how it stayed all day. The wind gusted at times, but was much more subdued than the weatherman had us believe. Under much more favorable conditions than we had anticipated, we proceeded to put a hurting on the local smallmouth bass. Tube jigs were the hot bait, but we caught smallies on just about everything we threw at them. I quickly lost count of how many fish we caught, but it was probably around 70 between the 3 of us. Among the smallies were a few big rock bass, a couple of sunfish and perch, a few largies, two pickerel, and a bonus walleye.
Before we left today we checked out the Hall of Fame, which my dad had never visited before. I would advise anyone with any interest in baseball to visit; the history on display there is astounding.
Some pics of the bigger fish are below. The video is on its way.
