Finally, my local pike areas are low enough to fish. Thank the LORD! The spots are not running clear and pristine by any means, but they are down enough for me to go get a quick fix. Got 2 Pike in about 30 minutes this afternoon and rolled 1 more. Nothing huge but it definitely felt good to put a bend in the rod after my boat meltdown on the big pond. One fish was 24, the other was 28 or so and they were jumping out of the water like Tarpon. Good fight from the fish today. I couldn't ask for a better lunch!

TIGHT LINEZ!!!!!:D

That's awesome. I never get away for lunch.
I'm happy if I can get to my desk and browse NJ Fishing during my lunch.

Hey, those are Shagbark Hickories behind you. They make edible nuts in the fall.

Yeah river is dipping down to near 14' in Fairfield and below 4' in Chatham . 13' and 3.5' are the magic numbers for bank fishing/wading. However mosquitos are reaching atrocious levels with all the stagnant pools that form when the river floods and recedes. Need to break out the full body netting and OFF! :p

The blood suckers were so thick yesterday that I was tempted to start a leave fire. Found some off deep woods in the truck, it got em off my back for the 30-35 minutes I was fishing.

Morris County Mos. Comm does spray but its usually not needed until late summer/early fall when West Nile starts showing up. This year is bad so they are spraying now. I email them all the time about hotspots but when u think about it, the entire drainage is a hotspot. They ATV/backpack spray the edges and roads adjacent to the big swamps like Great Piece Meadow & Hatfield Swamp but just too many stagnant pools and puddles. The walking trail along the river off Columbia Tpk is full of puddles and thats where its worst. Horrible like a plague. We could use a long dry spell.

I have a new found respect and love for my "LOWER UNIT"!!! I'll never do her dirty again. Still wondering where all that oil went, I changed it at the end of this past September! I miss my LOWER UNIT!!! WHAAAAAA!!!!

Great job Eddie !!! I tried a few "can't miss" spots this morning for about 2 hours from the kayak, and didn't even get a sniff !! Like you said, the water is still high, fast and stained, but very fishable. I will take the months of August and September with dry weather, with clear low water anytime, but if I waited for the perfect conditions, I would fish about 2 days a year !

Great job with the pike !!
