I know many of you guys are contractors so i have a question. I have a engineering scheduled to come the end of the week but was curious now lol
so heres the basics I want to remove a header that drops 12 inches into the room and replace it with a flush header(hidden)
split level home
rear exterior wall to kitchen
previous home owner "bumped out" kitchen 8 ft so this exterior wall is now an interior wall. an attic on top of kitchen but not on addition.ceiling joist running perpendicular to this wall. under this wall is foundation wall of basement. 12ft span. My question is can i put a flush mount header? the roof joist also run perpendicular to this header any info would help

Yes you can. You will probably have to cut out your ceiling joist to accommodate a Fitch plate witch is a steel plate. They will then put in a micro lam and tie it in with teco hangers and bolts. Your engineer will spec out the sizes of all your micro lams. He will do load calks and be able to give you the proper sizes. Anything can be done it all depends how much money you want to spend.
