In New Mexico:

OPERATION GAME THIEF TIP LEADS TO THE SEIZURE OF MORE THAN A THOUSAND TROUT CLOVIS –

After receiving a tip from a concerned citizen, Department of Game and Fish Conservation Officers found and seized more than 1,600 rainbow trout, more than 160 times the legal possession limit, in a Clovis home Saturday, May 10. The tip came through the department’s anonymous tip line, Operation Game Thief. Bounchanh Bounsombath of Clovis was arrested Monday, May 12, after department officers executed a search warrant at a home on North Connelly Street. Bounsombath, 62, admitted to catching all the fish at Green Acres Lake and Denis Chaves Pond in northwest Clovis. “Never in my whole career have I encountered this before,” Col. Robert Griego said. “The extreme excess of this case is aggravating. The department stocks these fish for all sportsmen and women, young and old, with the desire that everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy the fish.” The department regularly stocks rainbow trout during the winter and spring months at Green Acres and Denis Chaves to provide local fishing opportunities in Clovis. Department hatchery workers released approximately 10,000 rainbow trout into Green Acres and Denis Chaves between November 2013 and March 2014. Daily bag and possession limits help ensure opportunities for everyone. Licensed anglers may catch and keep up to five rainbow trout per day and may possess up to 10 rainbow trout at their residence. “A single call to Operation Game Thief resulted in Department Conservation officers seizing more than 1,600 illegally possessed trout,”

His name is Bounchanh Bounsombath? GUILTY!

When I first read the title of this thread, I thought they found the scoundrel who stole all the trout out of Seeley's Pond.

He was probably saving enough for the smoker and the rest for bait.:D Smoked trout disappear fast when the whole family likes them, and 3 or 4 dozen trout don't last long when you're fishing the stripedcats. It's a put and take fishery in those ponds. Besides, If he was live-welling them, it was costing him money after the catch as well. I will agree if he had been selling trout, he's a dick. But that wasn't stated in the post. BTW, I understand the fish from Seeley's went to feed families in the Plainfield area. Times are still tough for many folks even though we "fishermen" can afford our licenses, tackle, bait, gas, boats and who knows what else.

I think there is a sub-set of fishermen who just don't believe that the rules apply to them. They arrive at that conclusion by several means.

Some identify themselves as foreigners and don't see how conserving American fish or following their game laws benefits them. Or maybe they resent Americans and killing their gamefish gives them a vague sense of retribution.

Some people are just sociopathic and don't see the point following rules that aren't easily enforced. Following the fishing laws and conserving gamefish is only for those fools who release their fish. They'll take what benefits them.

1600? He must be one incredible fisherman or had some kind of bootleg netting operation going.

Hey.... the Division put down a hundred times that number this year. Maybe the guy is an amateur fisheries biologist just trying to do his part:confused: Enough with the humor, this is despicable!
