So I've been busting my butt trying to get my little guy his first trout ever. He's a pretty darn good angler for a 6-year old and even stepped up to a grown up rod and spinning reel this year but those pesky trout have been giving us fits.

Well, no more, my friends. No more. My little man brought in his first brown last eve. He only caught one but I have a feeling that was because all of my whooping and hollering scared off whatever else was within a mile radius.

On the downside, success had a price. I managed to take a healthy chip out of my front tooth biting closed a tiny piece of split shot. Whoops. Mom always warned me about using my teeth like pliers. Headed for an expensive lesson at the dentist but who cares? I'll trade a priceless memory and priceless pics for one pricey lesson any day.

Big day for my little fisherman!

Mike

p.s. He tried to act all nonchalant in the pics but the kid was over the moon. Positively giddy. Said to me "I think you should post the pictures online, dad." Done!

Outstanding! Congrats to the youngster! The only thing better than hearing about a new angler doing well is hearing about a young new angler doing well!
