I know this is the fresh water forums, but I also know there are a bunch of kayak fisherman on here too. Got back a couple weeks ago from a great kayak trip to Panama.

Very tough getting there, with a 5 hour plane trip, then a 6.5 hour van ride and then a 2 hour boat trip to the camp site. Camping sucks but the guides, the food and the fishing were outstanding. Too many kinds of fish to name, but many big cubera snapper, yellow fin tuna, roosterfish and many small 5-10 lb. bonito and small tuna. Most of the fish caught were jigged up from 100 feet of water and a few caught casting into the rocks along the shore.

I was in a Hobie PA angler, which I hated ! I had a 20 lb. yellow fin tuna pull me over as it took a deep hard turn towards the back of the kayak. I was getting pulled under, but made my way back up, still holding onto the rod. I handed the guide ina boat my rod, got back in the kayak and he handed me back the rod to land the fish 10 minutes later.

Here are a bunch of pictures of me and the 5 friends that I went with. enjoy !!

Reading your report will be the closest I'll come to doing that.
Are there lots of bugs there?

The bugs were not an issue at all. There was a nice breeze near the camp that kept most of the flying bugs at bay. We did have a bunch of land crabs around the tents at night, that were from 2 inches to 6 inches. I had one in my luggage as I was cleaning out my gear when I got home that was about 3 inches.

I put it in a small plastic container to show my granddaughter the next day as she watched it. When I went to leave for work, it was gone !! My wife was not too happy about a crab being lost in my kitchen. That was a week ago and I still didn't find or smell it !

That effing funny.
Reminds me of the time was cleaning a Trout in the kitchen sink.
When I cut it open a live crayfish comes out and grabs my pinky.
I fling my hand and the crayfish flies on the floor.
My cat pounces and gets grabbed on the nose.
Shakes his head rather violently and the crayfish tumbles high through the air right into my wife's coffee mug with a splash.

No fish cleaning allowed in the kitchen anymore.
