Thought I'd share this sonar shot from my Grandfather's logbook from 1991. This is from an old lowrance paper machine.......man did I love the smell of those old machines lol. These are browns, bows, and lakers all deep relating to bait according to my grandfathers logbook. The dark horizontal lines are the downrigger balls and the vertical lines are where he was dropping the ball and then catching a fish and the ball coming back up. Tons of fish arches all over.....thats the way the Valley used to be. I have his log books back to the when the valley first opened and wasn't even full yet.

Jeremy.....I have thousands of these. He pulled some on every trip and put them on his log page for each trip. I left out the spots....they were written on the top of that shot lol. I also have a book full of GPS coordinates......my grandfather was wayyyyyy ahead of his time when it came to trolling. I have screen shots like this from the early 80's.

Those boomerangs remind me of schooling tuna under the boat! I've never seen paper docs like that before, either. Pretty awesome throwback stuff. Your grandfather def was ahead of his time. I'm sure he Slayed when he was out on the water. Those endless logbooks are worth their weight in gold.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing.

I didn't start fishing RV until 2002 and didn't know what I was doing until 2005. I missed all the good years.

great sonar shots bicey, ur grandfather knew his stuff for sure.......I get screen shots like that on every body of water I go to......when Im in simulator mode tho haha......

Im actually plannin on hittin the valley 2moro am, but I doubt Ill see the likes of those arches these days. Like I always say, if there was more C+R things would be amazing in this state, at least make a few trophy water bodies w some small window slot limits to get things growing

I don't know...I got some good marks last Sunday. These lakers just aren't as big.

Thank you........greatly appreciated by me and my family. That lake was a huge part of his life for a long time. He fished RV 5 days a week for a longtime and was still a member even though he could no longer fish. I spent many days up there with him........ taking my first trip when I was 3. I don't fish it much anymore but it's still a great place to fish.

I'll put some more up tonight....ones with big schools of bait and fish just all over them.

We're you in a kayak messing around with a gopro? If so, I was the guy having trailer issues with the center console.

Man I never marked them like that on my yak! That is how I mark stripers. Consider yourself lucky!

He ever spot any dead bodies? Might show up as a really big fish:"Whoa - thats gotta be a musky!"
