Too nice out not to go fishing! Heading to Pompton Lake tonight (look for the floating banana... that's me.)

Any quick tips on the lake? I know it's tough to crack, but I might as well get crackin' since I live so close.

Thanks ya'll...

I was there last week with no luck, but its warmed a few degrees since then. I'd fish the shallows on the north end of the lake. Always did well with Crappies on the bobber/jig setup early season there.

I'm the wrong person discuss Pompton. Three attempts last summer on Pompton, zero fish.

yeah, definitely not serious. sorry about that.

@scoward - it was windy but i was in short sleeves and a pfd until the sun hit the horizon, then the pedal back from the wayne to PL bridge to was a bit chilly. i hear ya w/them jumping all around. might want to try a fly if you have any.. packing up my yak with my headlamp i was getting swarmed by smaller flies. looked like a bwo would mimick nicely if you saw a bunch of surface activity...

general report from PL - water steady on the surface @ 49.5*, didn't mark much of anything on the FF, no solid baitballs or fish, just some low hanging crappie on the south side of the lakeside dam... refused to throw anything to them down about 20-23', so i ripped out a jig, topped it w/some fluff and worked it for a while but ended up with a skunk.

Here's what was on the menu today:
• Jointed rapala
• Weightless texas rig senko
• shaky head senko
• Shaky head creature bait
• Black/Blue x-ounce jib topped w/ a tube
• black/blue jig

skunked... but not really surprised. not too many fished pulled out of that lake in all the PL reports... was certainly good to get out. lots of weeds about 6 - 7 feet from the surface. most likely left over from last years mess.

Fished Pompton on my lunch break today. Saw a F&W boat out there. Looked like they just finished setting up or checking the trapnets set up near the mouth of one of the feeder creeks. When I fished there last week it wasn't there.

Skunked again, but only fished for 20 minutes from shore. Saw lots of schooling Yellow Perch cruising the shoreline. They would check out my jig, but were more interested in hitting the barrel swivel than the swimshad :p.
