I live in Fayson Lakes and the two largest lakes are literally adjacent to each other, roughly the same size and depth and separated by a narrow dam. West Fayson is still covered with ice shore to shore (8 inches once you get away from the shore, I checked yesterday). South Fayson was about 80 percent open water, including the boat ramp.

I can't think of any time in my 20 years living here that I had a choice between ice fishing or taking the boat out. Pretty cool.

You gotta do both in one day just to say you did it! But be careful on that ice buddy...make sure to have the right safety gear cause ya never know.

Post up the pics if oyu do...even if you don't catch anything.

I have my ice fishing jacket with a built in PFD and hand spikes, but I wouldn't go out there alone when conditions are iffy. I see small open areas where the water enters and leaves the lake.

But it would be cool to do both, I admit that. If it was a bit nicer now I'd throw my sled in the boat and head over.

we did that two saturdays ago on one pond... ice fished the frozen side in the morning, stopped for lunch, and then open water fished the open side with waders in the afternoon. best of both worlds!
