Hit the river this Sunday on the kayak. Water was cold, low 40s, and very high, but fishable. Fished with spinnerbaits, ratltraps, jerkbaits, grubs, and swimbaits, but didn't even get a nibble. It's okay, still got my first freshwater outing of year in, can't complain. My question is, at what temps do the pike generally start biting? Thanks.

They are hit or miss this time of year, but they will bite. Slow down your presentation.

i havent fished the passaic but what I do this time of year on lets say the bigD is fish w a float. get a thule or similar that uses a tube ring to hold ur line depth and fish live bait on a small jighead or hook w a splitshot and float them downriver slowly. The thule style floats make it super easy to adjust depth, u wanna be near the bottom. lots of steelhead and walleye are fished this way thru the winter, works great
