Me and Andy hit the river today in hopes of catching a few fresh stockers in the non closed section of the river.
Not a sniff and decided to head to the falls. Not a sniff there either.
The highlight of the day was meeting up with the Somerset County C.O. his name is Chris.
Very nice guy and Andy I ended up shooting the breeze with him for about a half hour.
He seems to be dedicated to his work and I for one am glad.
After seeing all kinds of illegal stuff going on I hope this guy can make a difference.
He also informed us that the state is NOT stocking the non closed area of the river after all....no wonder we got the skunk.

Well I got warmed up for opening day at least:rolleyes:

Nothing better than a scotch, three fingers, after a nice skunk. At least you got out and dusted off the rod. So your telling me there putting 24,000 trout in the Raritan from Dukes falls to 206? That's pretty epic!:D

Looks like the hatchery decided to turn all those trout that were supposed to go into the Raritan into bluefish chum. Water in the canal was 44*. Fish ladder is still closed.
