Was checking out some of my spots last weekend and drove into the Grove in Htown. It used to be a hot spot when I was growing up, since them they took the dam down. I did not see any stocking signs up from last year or this year. Anybody know if they still stock it? Jeff

Give it a try. I didn't fish it last year and I imagine it is different now that the dam at Rt. 46 is down. When was the Grove dam breached? The grove itself was really overgrown and unkept when I was there last. There is some nice fast water upstream from the dam and some fish find their way up there but never too many. I took a nice 20" rainbow just below the bend upstream a few years back. The water downstream from the dam never appealed to me because it was too shallow. Try going there as a second or third stop after you fished in your primary spot.

The Dam has been gone for maybe 4 to 5 years now. I don't like below either there just too many rocks. The area had gotten grown over and the road also has gotten much worse. I'll give it a shot some evening.

It is still stocked. Very different since the dam remnants were removed. Personally I'm not very impressed with the touted streambed restoration work done above the former dam site. Still pretty much a seasonal trout fishery though due to the thermal problems created by the impoundment at Saxton Falls. By mid spring the river above there bakes in the sun and dumps the hottest surface water over the dam nd on downstream. It takes the river until below Beattystown (sp?) to cool down, only to get nicely reheated by the impoundment above the Penwell dam. Unfortunately there's very little likelihood we'll see either of those two dams removed anytime soon despite the best efforts of many orgs working together towards that goal.
