With this rain coming down I gotta think this ice fishing season is over. After ice fishing only 2 days in my life over 7 years ago, I logged in close to 20 outings this year fishing 7 lakes, 2 of which I've never been on. There's no way my ice experiences would have happened this season without the awesome people on this site. Thanks to everyone on NJFishing.com for putting together the meet'n'greets which turned me on to what the hard water has to offer. This winter will go down in history for a freezing cold miserable season but i'm thankful to the maniacs on this site who drove me to take every advantage I could to get out and drill a hole. This winter sucked, This winter was Awesome!!!!

Hey Scott, I'm gonna steal your last line cuz I couldn't have said it better. Although I didn't get out as much as you, I had a blast for my first season. I'd never set a tipup before monks ville. I have to thank the guys on this site for all the fun I had hit winter. Hoping we can keep a few meet and greets going on the open water...

It was a great ice season for sure. Good times were had by all and some nice fish were caught. Thanx for coming out guys, it was a blast! Thanx to Rocco for being a fine host! See you guys on the HARDWATER next year, hopefully. The 2014 fishing season is off to a phenomenal start, what will the open water bring? WHOOOOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Gonna jump on the bandwagon here and add thanks to you bunch of maniacs for getting me back into ice fishing after not doing it for 35 years. I even got my first smallies of the season already thanks to it. This includes hitting the open rivers for trout during those months. I still hate the cold, but I hate not fishing during that time even more. Can't wait for open water and the Meet-N Greets they bring too.

I'm glad its over. Historically speaking, good ice fishing years lead to poor rest of year fishing - particularly pickerel which some ice guys treat like garbage. Too many get discarded o the ice to die. Pickerel are often the only game fish biting early on until things warm up so give them a break!

I live in northern Warren County a one of the farm ponds near me - about 5 acres - started the week at about 90% covered. This morning it was half open. I'm doing a happy dance right now :-)

i was hoping to go direct from ice to trout fishing, but it looks like I may need to take a week off :(

I'm in the same boat as Scott. Always wanted to ice fish, got a few trips in last year. This season we were lucky enough to get a ton of ice and I did my best to get out there every chance I could. Learned a lot and did pretty well. Looking forward to keeping the momentum up into open water. Passaic, Hackensack, Hopatcong, Greenwood, Monksville, Spruce, Raritan, Mountain, Furnace, Pompton, if there are fish I will be there!
