Was really nice to see the F&G warden out this morning. Pulled up in a truck just like my buddies truck thought it was him but nope the warden. Checked my license we talked a little bit and he left. I've been fishing that spot for a long time and it was the first time seeing them there.
On the info side,
Looks like Rutgers is setting up shop under rt 287. There was a construction crew installing a dock near the ramp. Warden mentioned they would be setting up nets up and down the river. Possibly electro fishing certain areas too.

Good to see them out there for sure.....early in the season too. Too many people trashing too many places. I never have a problem with a warden checking things out.

When we fished the Spruce Run meet and greet, the warden told us they frequently visit NJF.

Everyone of the wardens Ive dealt with have been great, especially the guy who went out of his way on thanksgiving last year to nail the foreigners on LH in a Dows rental that gaffed a short musky right in front of me, kudos to him. They do visit this site, I had a F+G say hi to me on LH who knew who I was from on here, I love seeing the rules enforced and the scumbags go down

.
I can't recall seeing a single conservation officer last year.
There can't be that many of them out there.
From what I have read in the paper, there used to be an opportunity to be a volunteer deputy conservation officer, but they shut down program down about five years ago. They say it had to do with insurance liability issues.
Here's an article about it:

I've been fishing for over 40 years and have never been approached by a conservation officer on any lake or stream, anywhere.
That was a good thing at Round Valley last spring when half way through the day I realized that my license was in my car, which was in my buddies driveway an hour away. I thought if I ever was approached it was going to be that day, but nothing. There was one standing near the ramp chatting when we came in but he didn't give us a second glance. I let out a little whew! on that one.

30 + years fishing nj fresh and salt and i dont think that i have ever been checked. Lack of conservation officers i guess.
I Just jinxed myself. Lol.
At my cabin up in lg getting stopped and checked either on land boat or kayak is a common thing. Heavily enforced and it is shows as I donth think I ever seen the bucket brigade up there.

if that ever happens again, and you or your buddy have a smartphone, you can pull up a copy of your license from the NJDFW website to show the CO

Last month I bought a NY license online the morning I was leaving for an ice fishing trip. I tried to print it but my printer was out of ink. I snapped a pic of my license and the receipt on the computer screen with my cell phone. I don't know if that would have worked if I was stopped by a CO but I figured it couldnt hurt
