Had our best day so far on the valley ice today. Ended up with 3 browns and a laker. Changed up to light floro and #10 red books/ small shiners. Browns were in close(6-10ft)- laker was on a dead shiner on bottom 85ft. Probably had another 5 hit and runs.Cool to see the browns were moving parallel to shore in school I'm thinking the way the traps would go up on order down the shoreline. Hopefully we get to do this a while longer- catch emm up out there!!!

I tried there Saturday. I still don't know how anyone catches anything there. I guess I haven't put enough time in.

Valley is usually a one fish lake for me. Finally broke the curse :-)I think what made the difference was only setting traps at the depths we had bites the week before. 5-15 along the shore for browns and rainbows and 85 for lakers( this is just what worked for me). Go lighter and gentler on leaders and hooks. The Brown I had for dinner had a bunch of snails in its stomach along with scuds and a shiner with no hook marks. Hungry trout...
