Is anyone hitting the Passaic this winter. I went to my usual spots today and they were completely frozen over. Are there any dams on the Passaic that are accessible to fishermen? I would assume there are some dams near Paterson due to industry up there. I saw people fishing near the bottom of the Great Falls but im not sure how to get down there. Are there any large parks along the Passaic that are open to fishermen?

My usual Passaic spots are back in the woods and covered by trees which makes the water a mess. As you can probably tell, I really want to go for pike. I've been doing the bait and wait at Round Valley and its been productive fishing but its not as fun as going for pike.

I've never fished below the paterson falls in winter but I'm sure there's fish lurking in there. Check out google maps for dams/spill ways I'm sure you'll find a few. I've gotten a bunch of real solid fish winter fishing the passaic but you have to work for them.

We've done well with Pike straight through winter the passed couple years, but they have been milder than this winter. If you can find open water in an area where you think there are Pike, I'd go for it. We were catching them into December this year, but nothing the passed few weeks. Suspending jerkbaits and shallow diving minnow plugs. Big shiners too. SLOW retrieve...
