Quit smoking on New Year's Day. Yes I went to the electronic cig, but haven't had a real one in two weeks! Will start cutting the nicotine percentage down this week and hope to be off the e-cig in six to eight weeks. I've smoked since I was 17 and the dr. Told me if I don't quit now I will be on oxygen in my latter years.

I haven't gone this long without a smoke since I started! I know it's not a fishing report but I am stoked about quitting.

Shrimpman, that is OUTFREAKINGSTANDING! Nice that youre doing what you can to be around as long as possible for your family and friends.

I used to smoke 3 packs a day before going cold turkey over 20 years ago - best thing I ever did. Stay strong, its not easy!

Good job Steve! One word of advice: don't put yourself on a clock to quit the ecig. For all intents and purposes, you've QUIT smoking. I'm vaping still, but haven't had a *real* cigarette in 3 years. As far as I'm concerned, vaping and not smoking are the same thing.

Best of luck!

Awesome Steve. Keep going man. Each day gets a little easier, keep yourself occupied to keep your mind off it as well. I'm 17 years free myself after being a 3 pack a day smoker. You can kick it! Life savers, gum, mints also help instead of the e cig............

It's amazing how the stink gets into everything!

That's probably true for most---unfortunately I still like the smell of second-hand smoke-even after 25+yrs...but then I was a 3 pack/dayer, might have something to do with it.....sometimes the smoke does smell like burning rope or worse...

I quit in 98 even after 5 years I found myself reaching to my top pocket when I had to stop and figure out a solution to a job problem. Been 16 years and I'm sure I added many years to my life. The $ not so much as I just went out and bought more man toys with the extra. Good Luck to you. It will only get easier and you'll be doing yourself and loved ones good.

I quit 6 years ago but it is really to late for me. I have copd And I was put on oxygen about six weeks ago and I think my fishing days are over. So please Watch the ads on TV of the people coughing their guts out because it really is what happens later in life from smoking. They can treat it but they can not cure it. By stopping you are giving yourself more time before it gets so bad that you have to go on oxygen. Thank God I have this site to read about all you guys catching fish

Fins is right - a little tougher on the water but it can be done and you can do other things - chew gum , chew on a straw - even E-cig if you want to go that route

It gets easier as time goes on - I am almost 2 years myself

Good Luck and dont turn back it is not worth it -It was the hardest thing I ever had to quit

MoparCharlie

It all depends on what you want to invest.

The main thing you want is something that is consistant and reliable.

I have been vaping for a year and a half and I wish I had just bought the Provari up front.

I've had the twist batteries, a Zmax, Evic and finally the Provari.

It is not cheap. Figure around $200 for the unit, batteries and charger, but when you look at what cigs cost (not to mention the health benifets), it really is not that much.

That's only half the story....Next you need the atomizer.

Look into the Nautilus Aspire ($35) or Kanger Protank line($20).
These are very user friendly atomizers that anyone can use.

If you like to tinker and build things a Kayfun design atomizer is the best out there. Most of the ones you'll find will be clones ($35 for clone $120+ for the real thing). I use the Boge clones and can vouch for their quality compared to some of the cheaper ones.

OK.. this reply.... I am really looking for is from the smokers who quit.

I am 48 days in.. nic free.... have only had 2 Ecigs in the process.

I am breathing very easily...no wheezing.. still have some discomfort on the chest plate region when I first wake up..

After I start my day.. no discomfort.. I still feel I am in the purging of the lungs process.

I stopped hacking up brown..

Curious how smokers felt at 50 days and what the next 90 felt like.

Everybody is different - It all depends on how long , how much , how often you smoked and how old you are . JMHO

I smoked for 25 years and quit - didnt vape - took about 6-9 months before I started feeling better and chest lightened up , stopped hacking .
Eating right , exercise and a ton of water will also help

Your body is healing and the crap we inhaled through cigs - gets into every little nook and cranny of your lungs/cells/body . Takes a while to get back to feeling better

1 thing - please dont go back - you made it past the hardest part and you are doing great

As more time goes on the better you will feel

Good luck and hang in there

I went cold turkey. Best thing I ever did. Had the cigarette dreams for 5 years. You wake up thinking you started smoking again but it was only a dream. It's nice smoking in your sleep. No ill effects. After 25 years I still believe smoking will ultimately take years off my life.

I quit 8 years ago best thing I ever did. I don't remember exactly how long it took for me to really feel better though. There are still times that I could go for a smoke but I would never do it, too much of a pain to quit. Just remember that the urge to smoke is going to pass whether you have a cigarette or you don't. Keep it up.

Congrats Steve ! I kinda stopped on 10/10, cheated a few times, yah toggin was included, but vaping is an easy cure to start getting of cigs,I highly recommend this to those who thought about quitting, For me it was working in a secured inside job that I had to be caged in 8 hours... Next day before the next shift: I got a smoking apparatus thingy as I call it , started 24 mg for 3 weeks then decreased 18-12 and it's all but a few puffs and good to go. If you have actually taken the time to read this, do yourself a favor and go get yourself a quality E (thingy) and pick some flavor ya like and quit smoking that shit they put in cigs!
