Im putting the GOPRO camera on my xmas wish list and was curious if anyone recommends a particular model over another? I plan on using it mostly for fishing. Also is the head mount better then the chest mount for filming fishing? Thanks for any advise. Have a great holiday NJFISH members.

Wife bought me a Hero 3+ Black that I cannot wait to use.....Black Friday sale for 249.00!!!!!.......Has alot of cool features, prob way more than I will ever use..... .....funny thing is, she doesn't know I know about it yet...LMAO!!.....check Cabela's sales and also Best Buy for good deals...they most likely will be going on sale one more time before XMAS....

I personally love the gopro cameras I think they have great pic and videoing for the fisherman that goes out alone another great thing is that you can pull a pic right of the video with there editing program which is free from there website and the remote is a must . I like the chest mount

I recently upgraded from the Hero HD to the Hero 3. The 3 has much better sound capturing quality. I prefer the head-strap mount. You'll probably want some spare batteries, as well; go for an after-market brand, they are much cheaper.

As far as the camera, the Hero 3 black or silver edition are both excellent! You will need to buy the sandisk extreme MicroSd card, you need the faster write speeds or the camera's buffer will fill up and the camera shuts down randomly! The recommended ultra card is not fast enough in pro mode, >47mbps. Amazon has the faster cards for $32 and B&H in NYC has them for roughly the same price.

I would suggest downloading and installing the gopro app on a smartphone so you can control the camera and see what you are filming!

As far as mounts, the head harness and the chest mount or both great. You can get them aftermarket on eBay or amazon for under $20 each!

*** you need extra batteries for a full day of fishing! That camera will empty a full battery at high resolution in 1 hour! So buy the wasabi batteries and additional charger!

You can pm me if you have any questions, I can probably answer them.

Hope this helps!
